Plaque to be unveiled for WWII bomber crash

On 10 February 1941, a Handley Page Hampden bomber crashed into Bluestone Plantation, north of Cawston, killing all the aircrew, one of which we understand was his 21st birthday.

A plaque to commemorate the crash of the bomber will be unveiled on Sunday 2 September at 11.45 am at the memorial for the 1944 “Lucky Strike” B52 plane crash on Booton Road, near Cawston. This will follow the normal church service at 10.30 am in St Agnes, Cawston.

Contact has been made with some of the family of the aircrew who would like to be present at the unveiling.
