Food and fellowship at Cawston lunch club

Around two years ago, a group of people from various organisations in Cawston got together to consider whether a sociable lunch might be established to bring together people from the surrounding area. As a result, the Cawston Village Lunch Club is now held from 11.45 am on the last Friday of each month at Cawston Village Hall, High Street.

Particular emphasis is placed on encouraging those who might not dine out much or lack an occasion to meet with friends. Everyone is welcome and you do not have to live in Cawston to come along to enjoy the food and fellowship.

The lunch club offers a selection of home-made soups served with a bread roll. The sandwiches contain a range of different fillings and are freshly prepared at the hall on the day. The desserts, ranging from trifles, through fresh fruit salad to cakes, are also home-made; gluten-free options are available. The meal finishes with a choice of tea or coffee.

There is no charge for the lunch, but donations are invited. There is also a quiz and a raffle, the proceeds of which go to various charities.

Lunch club dates for 2017: 27 January, 24 February, 24 March, 28 April, 26 May, 23 June, 28 July, 22 September, 27 October, 24 November, 15 December; there is no lunch in August.
