Nursery centre manager joins Town Council

A Pettywell resident, who is manager of a local nursery and garden centre, has been co-opted to Reepham Town Council.

Matthew Steel (pictured) has lived just outside Reepham for the past three years, having moved from Morton on the Hill, after residing locally all his life.

As a young man he spent time at sea in the merchant navy and had the chance to travel around the world, eventually taking up his current position at Taverham Nursery Centre, where he has been manager for the past four years.

Mr Steel said: “I am now at a stage in my life where I would like to put something back into the local community.

“I think Reepham is a great place to live, but it needs to continue to develop on a sustainable level, while retaining its local shops and businesses.

“I would also like to see the market continue and perhaps grow; parking in Reepham is another issue that needs to be addressed.”

At the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 11 April it was announced that Michael Pinchin and John Rawlinson had resigned as town councillors.

  • There are currently five vacancies on Reepham Town Council. For further information on becoming a town councillor, contact the Town Clerk on 01603 873355 or email clerk@reephamtowncouncil.org.uk
