Festival raises record amount for local good causes

Thanks to a capacity crowd attending August’s Reepham Music Festival, the event organisers have been able to donate £5,500 to local charities and good causes.

Organisations that will benefit include the East Anglian Air Ambulance; The Matthew Project, providing drugs and alcohol-related counselling and advice; and Norfolk Mind, providers of mental health services in the county.

Other beneficiaries are Musical Keys, a charity helping people with special and additional needs; Surviving Together, a support group for women adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse; and Reepham Patient Care Fund, which supplies mobility equipment and social welfare support to sick and disabled residents. Meanwhile, Reepham Under 10s will also receive a contribution towards new football strip.

Festival chairman Steve Jenkins is proud of how the event is able to support local good causes. “Reepham’s annual music festival is firmly established on the music circuit, but it’s not about making commercial profit,” he said. “After all our expenses have been covered, the idea is to help support the good work that goes on at community level. And if this also helps contribute to raising awareness of what these organisations do, then so much the better.”

Planning for Reepham 14 is already under way. Sponsors are welcome and can contact Steve Jenkins at sjendesign@yahoo.co.uk
