A resident of Hellesdon, Mr Urry initially worked for a computer circuit board manufacturer before setting up his company, One Way Circuits, in 1986, which is now based in Lenwade.

This has grown to become the fifth largest of its kind in the UK, employing more than 250 people with sites in Leicester, Leamington Spa, Thetford and Norwich.

Over the years, Mr Urry has added other businesses to his portfolio, including parcel delivery for TNT Fashion Group, and is involved in several other companies ranging from internet, car club and high voltage power connection.

In 2007, he bought the disused Whitwell & Reepham Station, which was re-opened in 2009 and now attracts more than 25,000 visitors a year.

Commenting on his new appointment as a councillor, Mr Urry said he hoped he could help the Town Council with his skills “in whatever direction they required”.
