Three new social media training sessions in June

If you are running a business or an organisation in Reepham, the local Chamber of Commerce invites you to one of three new social media training sessions in June.

Each session will focus on one of three social media platforms and will be aimed at both the absolute beginner and at those who want to take their use to a new level.

The sessions will be run in an informal workshop style and will be led by Chamber members, who will be talking about how they use social media in their own businesses. The focus will be on practical matters – how to use it, how to make yourself visible and an explanation of the jargon being used.

Each session will start at 7.30 pm and will last for no longer than two hours. The venue is Reepham High School and you need book your place in advance.

Please email reephamchamber@gmail.com or call Jeremy Brockman on 01603 870201 to find out more and to reserve your place at one or more of the following sessions:

  • 10 June: Facebook
  • 17 June: Twitter
  • 24 June: LinkedIn

Social media is important and can be used by even the smallest business or organisation.

Reepham Chamber of Commerce organised two introductory social media training sessions for businesses and community groups in November/December last year. Since then, huge steps have been made in Reepham’s online visibility.

For example, there has been the development and meteoric rise of the Explore Reepham Facebook page. This had 224 “likes” at the time of writing and is playing a key role in keeping everyone up to date with what’s happening in and around the town, such as the progress with the Dial House, Birdy’s Bike Ride and the Reepham Open Studios Art Trail.

Individual businesses and organisations have also set up Facebook pages, including Reepham Garage Services, the King’s Arms and Whitwell Hall Country Centre.

There has also been an increased presence on Twitter: Whitwell & Reepham Railway, Reepham Life and Reepham High School & College are regular tweeters – and I have been tweeting and retweeting about Reepham on a regular basis using the hashtag #Reepham.

Reepham Arts and Crafts festival organiser Sandy Nevard is also using Twitter to build a network of contacts and believes this resulted in an increased footfall at the last event in April.

Meanwhile, LinkedIn is a social network for businesses and a powerful tool for creating new contacts and displaying expertise and experience. Its discussion threads give more scope than you will get on other platforms and its system of endorsements and introductions can help you build your reputation to attract new business.

If you are interested in learning more about any of these social media networks, please sign up and come along to the training sessions.
