Bawdeswell Village Cinema is showing the OSCAR and BAFTA award winning film Argo on Saturday 9th March at 7:00 for 7:30 in Bawdeswell Village Hall.
 
This is true story based on the covert operation to get 6 Americans out of Iran during the Iran - Iraq war. It recently won 3 OSCARS for BEST FILM, BEST FILM EDITING (William Goldenberg), WRITING - Adaptive Screenplay (Chris Terrio) and 3 BAFTAs - BEST FILM, BEST DIRECTOR (Ben Affleck), BEST FILM EDITING (William Goldenberg). However, six others managed to escape to the official residence of the Canadian Ambassador and the CIA was eventually ordered to get them out of the country. With few options, exfiltration expert Tony Mendez devised a daring plan: to create a phony Canadian film project looking to shoot in Iran and smuggle the Americans out as its production crew. With the help of some trusted Hollywood contacts, Mendez created the ruse and proceed to Iran as its associate producer. We have been showing films for over two years now and consider these evenings as more than a cinema but a place to meet new people and discuss film. We have shown - The King's Speech, The Way, In Love with Alma Cogan, The Artist and Samon Fishing In The Yemen to name a few. There is also a bar and refreshment available. This is a part of the Bawdeswell Village Hall Charity 800970 with finances currently being recycled into the Cinema.
