Historic railway poster now on sale

A little while ago the Reepham Archive acquired an original, 105-year old Great Eastern Railway (GER) poster for Reepham Station, issued by R.P. Ellis, superintendent of the line, at Liverpool Street Station on 3 February 1910.

The poster gives detailed orders to GER staff at Reepham on how to run the station, from operating the points to using flags and lamps, and even what to do when shunting carriages with horses!

The handwritten names on the top left corner are the GER staff to whom the poster was sent. It is astonishing to think that such a large document would be typeset and printed for a small rural station.

This unique piece of the history of Reepham and the railways has been restored and reproduced by the Archive.

Copies in A3 format are now on sale from Kerri’s Farmhouse Pine for just £4, or £5 for the laminated version. Kerri’s Pine has very generously said they will take no commission, so that all profits will go to the Reepham Archive to help acquire and preserve more of Reepham’s history for our town and its people.

If you are interested in Reepham or railways, or know someone who is, pop along to Kerri’s Farmhouse Pine (The Old Railway Station, Station Road, Reepham) and have a look at the whole poster, which has been reproduced with its original, aged colours and would look great framed.
