Bank to provide enquiry facility in the Bircham Centre on Wednesdays

HSBC, which will close its branch and ATM in Reepham on Friday 9 October, has agreed to provide a member of staff to attend the Bircham Centre from 11.30 am – 1 pm each Wednesday commencing 14 October.

The bank said it will make this facility available to the community until Wednesday 23 December, subject to demand.

Based in the downstairs “art gallery” room of the Bircham Centre in Market Place, the HSBC representative will only be able to provide information and advice; they will not have access to online services or deal with cash or cheques.

Personal account holders can deposit cheques, deposit and withdraw cash, and check their balance at the post office. It is hoped that HSBC business account holders will be able to use these facilities by the end of the year, subject to the completion of an agreement between the bank and the Post Office.

HSBC said a notice will be placed on the Reepham branch door following closure, making customers aware of the enquiry facility. It will also review the effectiveness of the clinics on an ongoing basis.
