Perfect conditions for Marriott’s Way 10k

More than 350 runners pounded the path of Marriott’s Way on Sunday 11 October for the annual 10k race organised by Broadland District Council.
 

 
Perfect conditions added to the atmosphere on the day, with the run being praised by participants for having a good course and being well organised.
 
Broadland District Council chairman Ken Leggett started the race at Aylsham and crowds gathered to cheer runners over the finish line in Reepham’s Market Place.
 
The first wave of runners set off at 11 am, with the first crossing the finish line just over 36 minutes later.
 
Male open winners

  1. Kristin Barnard, Wymondham AC, 36:24.6
  2. Nigel Arnold, Norfolk Gazelles AC, 36:27.4
  3. Neil Adams 36:37.2

 
Female open winners

  1. Amy Clarke, City of Norwich AC, 43:32.4
  2. Tessa Killingbeck, City of Norwich AC, 44:46.3
  3. Laura Gilbert, Bungay Black Dog RC, 45:14.6

 
Admin Re retained the corporate challenge trophy.
 
Cllr Claudette Bannock, Broadland’s member champion for sport, said: “It was an extremely enjoyable event. Increasing levels of health and wellbeing is one of the Council’s key ambitions and it’s great to see that it is so many other people’s ambition too. Thank you to all those who took part and those who lined the Reepham Market Place to cheer the runners on.”
