Festival of Light 2016 plans under way, more helpers needed

With plans for this year’s Festival of Light already under way, more people need to get involved to ensure the event’s future.

The festival will be held in Reepham Market Place on Thursday 8 December. The group organising the event have begun to put the arrangements in place and are confident that it will be another success.

Last year’s Festival of Light was attended by hundreds of people from Reepham and further afield. A video of the event can be found on YouTube.

However, the festival organisers are concerned that this may be the last time they are able to put on the event.

Brenda Gostling, chairman of the FOL team, said: “We are struggling to find enough helpers to do what is needed, both in the run-up to the event and on the day itself. “We are committed to holding it again this year, but if we are unable to expand the group it will be our last.”

The Festival of Light is run on a shoestring budget and relies on the support of local businesses and individuals to make it happen.

This year’s event will again include a children’s lantern parade, stalls selling seasonal food and gifts, Santa’s grotto, a craft fair and a full programme of entertainment.
