‘Friends’ raise funds for high school activities

The Friends of Reepham High School and College are looking for more volunteers to help raise funds to benefit the children at the school.

Mell Jones, chair, says joining the Friends “does not mean you will be sucked into a black hole of volunteering – just that you are willing to give a little time where you can”.

There are many ways to help without having to come along to meetings. Help is needed with events, such as selling refreshments, or with branding, advertising or baking, or for those who have links with companies that may like to support or sponsor these events.

Over the past year the Friends have raised funds to support many different projects, such as purchasing picnic benches, a polytunnel for the school allotment and beekeeping suits for the children. They are now in the process of buying rugby kits, an outside permanent table-tennis table and a microphone for the music department.

The Friends of RHSC are again holding a Christmas craft fair this year on Saturday 26 November, from 11 am – 3 pm in the college. There will be a range of stalls with homemade craft and gifts for sale, hot and cold refreshments and a raffle. Last year’s craft fair raised enough money to be able to fund the reupholstering of the library chairs.

Anyone interested in having a stall at this next event should contact the organisers for details and a booking form (table prices from £5).

  • If you can help or would like more details about the Friends or the craft fair, contact via the Facebook page or email Mell Jones
