Seconds from the Minutes

Some brief points from the Reepham Town Council meeting held on 13 February 2013:

  1. Sara Birtles was co-opted onto the Council.
  2. The Council unanimously agreed to financially support Reepham Life and contribute through the Your Council Matters page. Email, Twitter, and Facebook accounts and a mobile number for texting had been set up for anyone wishing to contact or contribute to the Your Council Matters page. The Council congratulated Geoff Fisher and Judy Holland for their achievement in getting the community newspaper off the ground.
  3. The Reepham Festival organisers had asked the Council to take on the task of organising and funding the Market Place events for 2013. After considering all the pros and cons the Council decided that it could not bear the financial and logistical responsibility.
  4. A company with experience of town hall floors had been hired to repair the Town Hall floor, but the timescale for repairs depended on the availability of the maple flooring. An architect had agreed to put together a free outline plan for updating the Town Hall toilets so that builders could provide quotes. A more detailed plan would need to be paid for and a grant obtained to carry out any works.
  5. Community Payback Team days had completed major clearance work in the churchyard and cemetery. A report had been compiled that would form the basis for a risk assessment for the cemetery. The Norwich Road cemetery still needed attention. The Council agreed that, subject to funding, the Community Payback Team would be hired to carry out further works, including repositioning the cemetery bench. The work was expected to cost around £800. It was agreed investigate the feasibility and cost of planting a hedge along top of the churchyard wall on Church Hill.

Better still, please come along to the Town Council Meetings.  These are held every month (except August) on the second Wednesday of the month in the Town Hall, usually at 7.30 pm. There is no formality and you can just listen, have your say or meet your councillors. Agendas are published on the noticeboards in the town and on the website, where you can also find out more information about meetings.
