Music festival looking for a new team of organisers for 2018

Reepham Raptors Motorcycle Club, which has shouldered the responsibility and hard work of organising the Reepham Music Festival over the past 10 years, has decided to pass the baton on to younger blood.

Brian Hope, Raptor and one of the main organisers, said: “As a bike club we have been involved with the festival since the beginning. We feel that after 10 years we have done our bit for the community and the festival.

"We have all enjoyed our time, but feel it’s time to hand over. It would be great if someone came in and took over the roles that we have all done, as we would all like for once to go to the festival and enjoy the event.

“We would also like to thank Neil and Jan for their support over the past 10 years because without them we would not have had a venue. It is hard work for the three days that are required to set up and rip down the field, but it is very rewarding, and I would like to thank Steve and Peter for the offer of lifetime festival tickets for the bike club.”

Steve Jenkins and Peter Fitzjohn, the other two “originators” of the festival, are willing to continue their roles for the foreseeable future. Mr Jenkins oversees all the marketing, advertising and hiring the acts, while Mr Fitzjohn is responsible for finance, hiring contractors and print.

Mr Jenkins said: “We cannot express enough our admiration and gratitude to the Raptors for all their dedication to the festival. Without them there would not have been a Reepham Music Festival, which has donated around £30,000 to local charities and good causes.

“We fully understand and respect their decision to stand down after this, our tenth year. It is exhausting work, over three consecutive days in August. These guys have been responsible for all the real work, erecting and ensuring the smooth running of the site, safety of our guests and much, much more.

“We are now looking to create a new team to continue the tradition of this unique and internationally respected event. The idea is for the new team to shadow and work with the organisers for this year’s festival with a view to stepping seamlessly into the role in 2018. “Remember, it’s your festival and without you there will be no Reepham Music Festival.”

Please email if you think you could become involved in this great community event.

  • The Reepham 17 Summer Music Festival will be held on the weekend of 12-13 August. The headliners will be 2-Tone legends The Beat, supported by a host of acts and musicians, including Thin Lizzy tribute band Limehouse Lizzy, festival favourites Walkway and Jeremiah Ferrari.
