Everything is set for the first Reepham Food Festival over the late May bank holiday weekend. Reepham & District Rotary Club would like to thank all the organisations and individuals who have come forward to make the event happen.
The organisers have worked hard to make sure the festival does not cause too much disruption to everyday business. The Market Place will be closed for a time and the extra cars for visitors will need parking, so we thank everyone for their forbearance.
On Sunday 28 May, there will be a lot going on in the marquee in the square, with a chance to see the results of the Reepham High School MasterChef competition, cookery demonstrations covering everything from fancy cake decoration to eastern cooking, and a “cook-off” challenge between Norfolk Country Cottages and Hansells.
There will be stalls selling everything from coffee to charcuterie, pork pies to pastries and, in the Bircham Gardens, the picnic area with beers from Panther Brewery, a hog roast from Lilwalls, burgers and sausages from Swannington Farm to Fork, Thai food and coffees.
And the King’s Arms, the Dial House and Diane’s Pantry will be open to welcome locals and visitors to the town.
There will also be a lot going on at the local schools. Reepham High School will be showing the work being done at its allotments, which will be open to visitors.
Reepham Primary School will be the focus of all sorts of displays, covering work on where food comes from and their links with a Japanese school.
Also at the Primary School visitors can take part in some fun experiments that show some of the science behind food. The Scouts will also be at the school showing their survival cooking skills.
Throughout the festival there will be challenges for children and something for all the family to do.
Tickets have been selling well for the events around the festival: cocktails and canapes on the Saturday evening, breakfast at Diane’s Pantry on Sunday morning (tickets from Diane’s Pantry) and the local produce supper on the Sunday evening (tickets from Very Nice Things). Tickets can also be ordered through the website.
The organisers have had an amazing response from the town, but there is still room for a few more volunteers. Get in touch via the website.
