Record amount raised at Sparham garden party

A beautiful day on Saturday 3 June saw a large number of visitors and villagers enjoying the varied attractions on offer at the Sparham Annual Garden Party.

The Grand Draw had prizes ranging from ski lessons to a selection of wines and local farm produce, which were all donated by local shops and businesses. The winner of the top prize of £100 cash was Janet Balderston.

New at the event this year was a range of birds of prey from Norfolk Wild Encounters, with visitors able to get a close-up view and stroke and handle these beautiful birds.

Some 50 flying fish launched from the church tower caught every ones attention as they parachuted to earth, with two reaching our garden in Whitwell Road). The longest flight was won by a boy from Sparham.

Entertainment was provided by Fakenham Town Band and the young girl and boy performers from Reepham Ballet School, and there were mouth-watering refreshments, which all helped to raise a record amount to maintain the village church of St Mary the Virgin.
