Heydon tea room wins award for best afternoon tea in Norfolk

Heydon Village Tea Shop won the Best Afternoon Tea award at the recent Norfolk Food & Drinks Awards 2017, beating Blakeys Bus Café at Mulbarton and the Assembly House in Norwich.

The judges said they were looking for the “café, restaurant or hotel that offers an afternoon tea for customers that is a really pleasurable experience combining a choice of sandwiches, cakes, scones, tea and more, with a lovely atmosphere, great service and a touch of luxury”.

Run by Cindy and Karl Halls, Heydon Village Tea Shop has expanded in recent months into an adjacent room, formerly part of the hairdressers that have now moved into Reepham.

This is a quintessential English tea room in a charming and unspoilt English village, where everything is made on the premises using quality and, where possible, locally sourced ingredients.

The menu comprises an impressive selection of home-baked cakes; light lunches include homemade soup, sandwiches and jacket potatoes. All food and drinks are prepared fresh to order.

Traditional afternoon teas are served daily, although booking is essential with 48 hours’ notice.
