St Nicholas’ in Brandiston will remain locked until the Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) can assess and repair damage after thieves struck during the early hours of Thursday 8 February.
The church was reportedly entered by two suspects who were unsuccessful in their attempt to remove the wall safe from near the door. A light coloured hatchback is believed to have been involved.
This small, redundant, round-towered medieval church, which is under the care of the CCT, is normally left unlocked.
Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
