Reepham could have six-foot Tommy statue displayed in town

Following the recent commemoration of the centenary of the end of the First World War, Reepham Town Council has been offered a “There But Not There” statue, better known as the “Tommy statue”, as a memorial to the fallen from the Reepham district.

The life-size version of the There But Not There logo weighs just 11 kg and has a thickness of 6 mm. The hollow outline is cut out of lightweight aluminium giving it strength and durability. It includes a small hole to attach a poppy.

The sculpture stands on a 500 mm x 500 mm base plate with four holes to allow it to be bolted or pegged into the ground.

The offer will be discussed at the next Town Council meeting on Wednesday 9 January, and councillors would like suggestions from residents as to where they might like to see the statue displayed if a suitable location can be found.
