The organisers of the Reepham 14 Music Festival have announced that the headline act for next year’s summer event over the weekend of 9-10 August will be the legendary Big Country.
From 1983 onwards Big Country delivered a series of multi-million selling singles and albums including the classics In A Big Country and Wonderland. In the 1990s they toured with the likes of The Rolling Stones and The Who.
2007 saw a reunion of the band accompanied by renewed success, followed by appearances at the Isle of Wight, T in the Park, Oxegen and V festivals in 2011 and 2012. This year has seen Big Country complete a new studio album.
“We are very, very pleased indeed to have secured such a prestigious band for Reepham 14,” said festival director Steve Jenkins. “This further enhances Reepham Festival’s reputation as a place to see internationally renowned bands performing in a friendly, intimate and welcoming setting in the heart of Norfolk.”
There is already a Reepham connection in that Derek Forbes of ex-Simple Minds, who appeared at Reepham Festival two years ago, has joined Big Country’s line-up on bass.
