Reepham Diner and Sweet Shop for sale on eBay

After just a few months of trading, the American-style diner and traditional sweet shop on Townsend Corner in Reepham has been listed for sale on eBay.

Owner Roy Wainwright said the business is currently making a small yet constant and increasing profit, but he is finding it too difficult to sustain with his existing commitments.

“At present, I’m working as many hours as I can to ensure the kids of Reepham keep their sweet shop and diner,” he said. “With more support from the community I could employ someone to ensure its future.”

Mr Wainwright is managing director and founder of Lenwade-based fashion distributor Depot 94, having previously worked at French postal company La Poste and with experience in franchising.

According to a report in the Eastern Daily Press, Mr Wainwright spent almost £20,000 on the Reepham Diner/Sweet Shop project last year after asking young people in Reepham what they wanted in the town.

He is now hoping to sell the business as a going concern, although he would consider a partner or even an investor.

“This is an excellent opportunity to get on the business ladder, but with other demanding projects, I’m not able to put in as much time and effort as I’d like,” he said.

“I really would like someone to continue the hard work and support the people who have been loyal to the sweet shop and diner.

“It would be a shame to let it close. I really enjoy my time at Reepham Diner; however, I have other interests and need to focus on them.”

The business has been listed on eBay for sale at £15,000, all stock and fixtures/fittings included.

“This is a very cheap option for anyone wanting to establish a small concern of their own,” said Mr Wainwright.
