New website lists local walks and talks

A new website has just been launched, World Tree Walks & Talks, by Reepham-based Imogen and Trevor Ashwin, who work together as the World Tree creative partnership. Their work includes editing and graphic design, heritage interpretation and consultancy, as well as their individual practices as artists.

The Ashwins are passionate about archaeology and history, landscape and folklore, and during the past year they have helped co-ordinate, and led guided walks, for the CPRE project Connecting Threads: Exploring Reepham’s Footpaths. Imogen’s background is as an artist while Trevor worked for many years as a field archaeologist and has led an annual programme of guided walks for Cromer Museum.

World Tree is now running its own events, including walks and lectures. The events list for 2014 includes a two-week programme of events called Reepham Tracks and Traces, which is timed to coincide with this year’s national Festival of Archaeology.

As part of this programme, Reepham Town Council is sponsoring a free lecture by Dr Adrian Marsden, archaeological and finds specialist based at Norwich Castle Museum, whose talk on 22 July will include illustrations of some of the breathtaking metalwork finds from the Reepham area.

The World Tree Walks & Talks website lists the current scheduled events, including walks, performance events and talks, along with information about availability and booking, most of which take place in or around Reepham.

World Tree also welcomes enquiries from individuals, organisations, groups or party organisers about bespoke events.
