Tony has been a major influence on the management of the Common; his knowledge and love of wildflowers and appreciation of the precious ecology of the area has helped preserve and develop the nature reserve for all to enjoy.

He has steered the way towards the return of grazing to the Common, which will further enhance the range of plant species. He has also instigated the application for permission for some fencing, should it be required.

Tony’s gentle manner, coupled with his wisdom and humility achieved much and was certainly hard to resist when asked to perform a task.

He will be greatly missed by all the Trustees, who wish to extend their thanks for all his selfless devotion to the post.

The new chairman is Lin Garland, who has bravely agreed to take on the responsibility. Lin can be contacted via email: ashcot2003@talktalk.net
