Record amount raised at Sparham garden party

A beautiful day on Saturday 3 June saw a large number of visitors and villagers enjoying the varied attractions on offer at the Sparham Annual Garden Party.
 
The Grand Draw had prizes ranging from ski lessons to a selection of wines and local farm produce, which were all donated by local shops and businesses. The winner of the top prize of £100 cash was Janet Balderston.
 
New at the event this year was a range of birds of prey from Norfolk Wild Encounters, with visitors able to get a close-up view and stroke and handle these beautiful birds.
 

Volunteers needed to help clear Booton Common

In a late change of programme, the Norfolk Conservation Corps has been asked the senior warden of Norfolk Wildlife Trust to go to Booton Common on Sunday 9 July from 10 am, instead of the originally planned venue.
 
Volunteers will be trying a new way of tackling Himalayan balsam and hope to rake up mown vegetation that includes this invasive species, which is overrunning the Common.
 

A celebration of the life of Ralph Cox

A celebration of the life of Ralph George Busby Cox, who passed away on 17 May aged 85, will be held on Sunday 2 July at the Brooklands Care Home, Costessey Lane, Drayton, from 1–4 pm.
 
The event will a chance to celebrate the life of Ralph, who used to live in Station Road, Reepham, with his wife Joyce, and share memories with family and friends.

Labour Party growth in Reepham

Following a dramatic increase in members since the election of Jeremy Corbyn as leader, Broadland Labour Party has created four new branches.
 
The Wensum Valley Branch, covering Reepham, Cawston, Foulsham, Great Witchingham, Taverham and Drayton, held its inaugural meeting in March. The next meeting will take place in Reepham on Tuesday 9 May at Reepham Methodist Church, Station Road, Reepham, at 7.30 pm.
