Bawdeswell welcomes new village hall

After more than 10 years in the planning, the new Bawdeswell Village Hall is now open and is starting to be used

The hall is still in the process of being fitted out and will not be ready for functions for a while, but its regular users who moved out during the build are starting to return.

Careful thought has gone into creating a space that is flexible, welcoming and practical.

With various rooms available for hire and modern facilities throughout, the hall will be used as a home for local clubs and societies to meet and for special events and celebrations, both public and private, to take place.

It will also be a space for local businesses to use for meetings, to showcase their services and to interact with the community of Bawdeswell and the surrounding villages.

The official opening weekend will be held on 25-26 July. The grand opening will be at 12 noon on Saturday 25 July, with refreshments and light lunches available. Following will be club displays, bouncy castles and games for the children, and a free party with disco, entertainers and food from 7 – 11 pm (ticket only; bar available).

On Sunday 26 July a community breakfast will be held at 8.30 am (ticket only, donations welcomed), followed by a community church service at 10.30 am in the village hall, a film of the history of the hall, demonstrations, join in choir rehearsal and performance, BBQ, bar, children’s games, Taverham brass band and more.
