Police carried out a warrant at an industrial unit off Norwich Road in Lenwade on Tuesday 16 July.

After forcing entry to the building, officers found cannabis being grown in four large rooms with extensive hydroponic equipment.

Nine people were arrested at the scene in connection with the find and were taken into police custody in Wymondham and Aylsham for questioning.

Officers from policing teams in North Norfolk and Broadland and detectives from Norwich CID have been on scene for the past two days, clearing the site and seizing plants.

The nine people arrested were questioned in connection with the discovery and were charged with producing cannabis. They appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court and remanded in custody to appear at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday 15 August:

  • Kien Le, 26, of no fixed address
  • Potja Shprim, 31, of Walpole Road, London
  • Mevlan Cena, 22, of no fixed address
  • Ali Yilmaz, 53, of Montagu Road, Edmonton, London

Superintendent Chris Harvey, North Norfolk and Broadland Policing Commander, urged local residents and businesses to be vigilant to strange activity. He said: “We would encourage anyone with information about drug activity in their community to contact police.

“Signs to spot including a strong or sickly sweet smell in the air, buildings with windows constantly blocked off, high levels of heat and condensation and the constant buzz of ventilation. Such operations would most likely have people coming and going from an address at unsociable hours too.”

Anyone with information about drugs activity in their area should contact Norfolk Police on 101 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
