Youth worker and county councillor selected as Labour candidate

Norfolk youth worker and county councillor Jess Barnard has been selected as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for the Broadland constituency in next month’s general election.

If elected, she has pledged to use her experience from working in Norfolk’s schools, the community and public services to represent Broadland in Parliament.
 
A senior youth worker at a Norfolk-based youth charity, Ms Barnard is the county councillor for the Nelson ward in Norwich and a member of the county councils’ communities committee.
 
As a long-term environmental campaigner, she has been championing Labour’s commitment to tackle climate change and has called for national investment in local areas.
 
Labour’s Green New Deal aims to ensure that building affordable eco-housing will go hand in hand with investment in our public services.
