Fun for children and families at Reepham Library

Children and families of all ages are welcome in Norfolk libraries: no child is ever too young to start listening to stories and joining in with rhymes, or enjoy exploring the library together.

Reepham Library holds free bounce-and-rhyme sessions for under-5s every Friday from 2.15–2.45 pm where babies and toddlers can enjoy songs and rhymes in a group environment. Sessions are free, there is no need to book and they continue through school holidays. Parents and carers are welcome to join afterwards for Stay & Chat to talk with others and enjoy a free cuppa while their children play.

Children under five can borrow up to 20 items for three weeks at a time. The children’s catalogue can be used to search for and reserve favourite items or find something new.

Reepham Library also has story sacks containing picture and information books, toys and a game – all linked to a story – as well as audio books and DVDs.

Children’s early years can be a busy time and parents and carers sometimes forget to return a book or cannot make it to the library in time. As children learn to read they often use the same books again and again so they wear out more quickly. Reepham Library understands this and does not charge for reservations, overdue or damaged items if they are borrowed on an under-5s library card.

Family-friendly

The library wants to be a welcoming space for the family, so please do not worry about children crying, talking or laughing or emptying the shelves in search of the perfect book.

All Norfolk libraries are breastfeeding-friendly and visitors can also bring in food and drinks. They also offer baby self-weigh scales so parents can check the weight of their baby at any time.

There are also activities for older children at Reepham Library, such as Lego/Duplo club every Friday from 3.30–4.30 pm, science craft fun every Wednesday from 4–4.45 pm, and code club for those who want to have fun with computer games and websites every Friday from 3.45–4.45 pm – all of these are free, no need to book, just turn up.
