A message from the ‘miniature heroes’ of the NHS

With National Health Service staff working on the frontline to fight the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, their “miniature heroes” have a message for the public to help keep their parents safe.

The children of NHS workers from across Norfolk and Waveney have been designing messages that have been posted on social media to emphasise the importance of staying home to protect the NHS and save lives.

The youngsters have made heart-warming signs such as “stay home to protect my mum” in a plea to people to follow the government’s guidelines during the lockdown.

Dr Siobhan Rowe, senior partner at the Humbleyard Practice, commented: “We are really appreciative of the people of Norfolk and Waveney following government guidelines and staying at home these last few weeks.

“This minimises the levels of risk for healthcare workers, who have such an important job to do, but equally have families at home who worry about them.

“Minimising community transmission of coronavirus also enables us to remain open for business for other patients in need, where we would prefer that they do still contact us for advice and guidance if they need to.”

Stay at home

Everyone should stay home in line with government guidance.

If you or someone you live with has coronavirus symptoms (high temperature and/or a new continuous cough):

  • stay at home;
  • if your symptoms worsen or you feel that you cannot manage at home, please refer to the NHS111 online coronavirus service;
  • please do not go to your GP practice or community pharmacy.

NHS services remain open and if you require medical assistance or advice, please telephone your GP surgery or local pharmacy.
