August return for local food festival

The much-postponed Reepham Food Festival will now take place on Sunday 22 August in the Market Place and surrounding venues in Reepham from 10 am to 4 pm.

Since the 2020 event had to be postponed, the next date in May this year also had to be abandoned because the organisers could not be certain of the safety of exhibitors and visitors.

Now that it looks as though more outside events can now be held safely and profitably, the Reepham & District Rotary Club has decided to go ahead with a limited event.

For the August event, the Market Place will host stalls with all types of local produce to try and buy.

By limiting the number of stalls to around 30, there will be more space and it will be easier to ensure any necessary social distancing, the Rotary Club said (prospective exhibitors can find out more HERE).

In addition to food and drink stalls, there will be cookery demonstrations, tastings and competitions to keep all the family amused. Local hostelries and shops will also be open to welcome back visitors.

Food festival chairman Ian Malton said: “Planning has not been easy, but we have decided that we can hold a safe event, although we will keep a close eye on any changes.

“By limiting the event we can ensure that no-one will be out of pocket if changes have to be made. We expect to return with a full festival involving many more events and activities in May 2022.”

The food festival is organised by Reepham Rotary Club with a growing number of other organisations and individuals. Entry is free. Volunteers are welcome to apply through the festival website.
