A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to raise £20,000 to film Losing Us, based on an award-winning script about young Albanian siblings and their mother who become refugees.

“I’m supporting this marvellous project; perhaps you can too,” said the Norfolk-based actor, broadcaster, comedian, director and writer in a Tweet.

Producer Lesley van Dijk said: “We are so pleased with Stephen Fry’s generous support. While this is a huge step in raising the funds, every person who donates matters and every donation makes a difference.

The project is getting increased interest and has already raised more than £7,600 with over 100 supporters, but still has a way to go to achieve its target.

Ms van Dijk added: “We are inviting people to become part of this unique local film project by sharing information about it, joining as an official supporter by donating or sponsoring the film.

“We are also approaching local businesses for sponsorship. Currently, we are in conversation with a couple of local and Norwich-based companies. We expect to announce our first sponsor very soon.”
