Meetings are held from 10 am to 12 noon in St Michael’s Reepham on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month.
 
The café is a Reepham & District Rotary Club project with the support of many others in the community.
 
While it was felt necessary to cancel the pre-Christmas event for Covid reasons, the club now feels the meetings can proceed with suitable caution, according to organiser Peter Williams.
 
“Socialising is particularly important for those we are aiming to help so we wanted to resume as soon as possible,” he said. “Many people have enjoyed getting together for a chat and a bit of entertainment.”
 
The Rotary Club will ensure adequate ventilation and provide sanitisation. However, it asks that all those attending are fully vaccinated and take a lateral flow test on the morning or the day before. All volunteers will follow the same procedures; mask wearing will be optional.
 
The Sunshine Café offers a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere with music, games and entertainment, together with tea, coffee and biscuits.
 
In recent months, visitors have enjoyed seated Pilates, a ukulele band and the chance to chat with others. More different activities are planned for the future.
 
“We have been encouraged by the response,” said Mr Williams, “as we are appealing to a group of people who may find new things difficult. However, we are building a group of regular visitors and a team of helpers who enjoy the café.”
 
There is no membership, regular fees or any obligation to attend. Anyone with a need can turn up on the day and be assured of a warm welcome. Drinks and refreshments are kindly provided by the Co-op and the volunteers.
