Run by Emma Power of EmPower Pilates, each class is designed around the classical mat-work repertoire, with contemporary exercises and small equipment included to challenge participants along the way.

The classes are suitable for all ages and abilities from 18 years and over. Bookings can be made for a single class or a full-term membership (the new summer term runs from 6 June – 23 July).

“Precision of movement from regular Pilates helps to bring back natural alignment, strengthen the core and enables us to have greater mobility, easing tight and stiff muscles and painful joints,” said Ms Power.

“Confidence and a feeling of well-being follows. I believe that staying active through regular exercise is the key to a healthy life, both mentally and physically. Movement is medicine!”

EmPower Pilates is a fully equipped studio space. Mats and small equipment are supplied or people are welcome to bring their own.

The classes are kept to a maximum of 12 people, which allows assistance and support for all clients, helping them to make good progress within a warm, safe and fun environment.

Ms Power is a certified Level 3 fitness and Pilates instructor and on the Register of Exercise Professionals.

She trained in London with Body Control Pilates and regularly attends specialist courses to continue her education. Her studies have included Pilates for the over 50s, bone health and scoliosis, with studio equipment her current area of interest.

She runs weekly mat-based classes to groups in and around Norfolk, including Horsford Village Hall, St Michael’s Reepham and The Garage in Norwich.

In the summer months she holds outdoor classes in the Plantation Gardens, Norwich, and also teaches private classes on a one-to-one basis.
