Local filmmakers have released the official trailer of the much-anticipated short film Losing Us, ahead of taking it to international film festivals.

The team is now organising a movie quiz and party night in Reepham on Friday 8 July to help raise funds to enable it to submit the film to festival organisers.

The film depicts a topical subject in which children are getting stuck in life after fleeing their country and at the mercy of human traffickers.

Nearly two years in the making, the film’s director Teele Dunkley, producer Lesley van Dijk (both of Reepham) and co-producer Anton Kamillus are due to finish the film imminently.

Losing Us was filmed in Reepham and surrounding areas in September 2021 and February this year. The trailer has already gained more than 3,700 views on YouTube.

The film will feature several local locations including Reepham’s Market Place, Reepham College, the Bircham Centre, Johnson’s of Reepham, Easton College and Eves Hill Farm in Booton.

Film festivals

The filmmakers, who won numerous awards with their previous short film Metres Apart, are currently adding the final touches to the sound editing and composing music.

The next steps will be to submit the completed film to film festivals around the world, which is part of the process to show a short film locally, nationally and internationally.

The fundraiser event – a movie-themed quiz and party night called “Back To The Movies” – will be held on Friday 8 July from 8–11 pm at Stimpson’s Piece pavilion, Bartle Court, Reepham.

Supporters are invited to make up quiz teams of four to six people, dress up for the special occasion, and enjoy dance music and entertainment by Graham Dunkley of Funforce.

The doors open at 7.45 pm and the quiz will start at 8 pm. There will be a bar to purchase beverages, including non-alcoholic drinks and cocktails.

Tickets (£12) for the event can be booked together or individually HERE.
