Volunteer opportunities at the Bircham Centre
The Bircham Centre is holding a volunteer evening on Thursday 29 May from 7–9 pm where attendees will hear from other volunteers and have the chance to chat about volunteering opportunities over drinks and nibbles.

There is a growing body of evidence that supports the idea that helping others is not just about giving back, but provides a boost, whatever your age.
As life can now be busier and more stressful than ever, many feel they cannot squeeze more into their hectic days. Yet, helping out in the community now and then, and showing a little kindness to others, can enrich lives.
A recent campaign by the Mental Health Foundation focused on the power and importance of community: “We thrive when we have strong connections with other people and supportive communities that remind us that we are not alone.”
Reepham has many community groups that help to make the town such an enjoyable place to live, but the number of volunteers to keep these organisations going is dwindling. To keep Reepham a bustling, caring community, many more people are needed to help out.
Opportunities at the Bircham Centre are varied and include roles that require little time or do not involve a regular commitment, such as:
- helping at the charity shop and book room
- supporting community activities
- helping in the Bircham Centre garden
- getting involved in building maintenance
- assisting with health and safety
-
contributing to the archive.
The Bircham Centre is also looking for new trustees.
There are other opportunities to assist other community groups in the town, such as the Reepham Good Neighbour Scheme, Stimpson’s Piece, the Scouts or driving the Reepham Rover.
Anyone wishing to attend the volunteer evening should register by email or call into the Bircham Centre in Market Place, Reepham, any weekday morning.
