Jack takes on Lake District challenge

Reepham Primary School student Jack Greves (pictured) has been fundraising for BBC Children in Need for the past three years.

He sets the tasks himself: at age 5 years he climbed Stickle Tarn in Cumbria; at age 6 he completed a 12-mile walk from Cromer to Cley next the Sea; and last year age 7 he walked 16 miles along the Marriott’s Way from Reepham to Norwich, raising more than £600.

This year’s task will be the most challenging yet: Jack will be climbing Helvellyn – the third highest peak in England at 950 metres (3117 feet) – and is determined to conquer it during a family holiday to the Lake District in October. He will be accompanied by his father, Ben Greves, plus a rucksack full of snacks to keep him fuelled along his trek.

Jack is keen to raise as much money as possible for children less fortunate than him, and hopes to continue these challenges every year; he is already talking about tackling the Three Peaks in future.
