Anglian Water announces details of road closure programme

Work on a new five-kilometre pipeline to secure water supplies in the Reepham area has got under way, which will involve a series of road closures and diversions over the next few months.

The £700,000 scheme being undertaken by Anglian Water began earlier this month in farmland between Fakenham Road, Sparham, and Dereham Road, Reepham.

The work will require the closure of a lane of the B1145 Dereham Road, Reepham, for eight weeks, between the crossroads at School Road and the junction of Park Lane

Antony Innes of Anglian Water said: “The purpose of this project is to increase the flexibility in our network, helping to secure supplies for the Reepham area. The new pipeline will mean we can move water around the area more easily, helping to increase the resilience of customer’s supplies.

“The majority of work will be in farmland; however, there will be some instances where there will be disruption to local roads between now and spring when work is expected to finish.”

Nowhere Lane will be closed from 17 November for four weeks with traffic diverted along the B1145 to Bawdeswell, and the A1067 Fakenham Road.

In the New Year, the work will require the closure of a lane of the B1145 Dereham Road, Reepham, for eight weeks, between the crossroads at School Road and the junction of Park Lane. Smaller vehicles will not be affected by this stage of the work; however, HGVs will be diverted along a clearly signposted diversion.

The road will also need to be fully closed to all traffic for one week in mid-February; this has been arranged to coincide with half-term to reduce the impact on local roads. Full details of the closure, including diversion routes, will be available nearer the time.

Mr Innes added: “We know work like this will cause disruption and we’re sorry for that; however, we hope people will understand the long term benefits this work will bring.”
