Second beer festival goes down a treat

The second annual Reepham Beer Festival organised by Panther Brewery proved to be even more of a success than the previous year.

There were 26 real ales, four ciders and 19 continental lagers and fruit beers. Real ales were from Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Sussex, Wiltshire and Yorkshire; lagers were from Germany, Belgium, Holland and Spain.

This year’s event was attended by more than 500 people and over 1,800 pints were drunk. The first of the casks to finish was our very own Honey Panther, followed by Golden Panther.

Food stalls included Jamoroc’s Caribbean curry and jerk chicken, Hundred River Artisan Ice Cream, Vette’s Veggie Van and the BBQ run by the 2nd Reepham Scout Group.

The entertainment included a variety of live music ranging from folk to rock, and we are especially grateful to those musicians who kindly performed for free. Bar games were provided by the King’s Arms and proved to be a popular addition.

On behalf of Panther Brewery we would like to thank all of our volunteers, without them none of this would have been possible.

Also a big thank you to all of our sponsors and contributors: Norfolk & Norwich Branch of CAMRA, Reepham Life, The Thirst Consultants, Norfolk Country Cottages, British Legion, Reepham & District Photographic Club, the Bridge Club and Reepham Garage Services.

All profits from this event are donated to charity and this year we donated £450 to Stimpson’s Piece.

We hope to run this event again next year and any charities wishing to be considered for a donation are welcome to contact Martin or Jack at Panther Brewery.

We also look forward to hearing from any clubs, local bands, food producers and sponsors who would like to get involved in order to make the 2016 event even more successful.

Martin James

  • Panther Brewery’s Honey Panther won the bronze prize in the speciality beers category of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Champion Beer of East Anglia Competition. Earlier, at the Aylsham Show at the end of August, the Reepham-based brewery won the showstopper award, again for its Honey Panther.
