A feast of Italian exotica at Classic Car and Bike Festival

The Reepham Classic Car and Bike Festival filled the town’s Market Place on Sunday 27 September with a feast of Ferraris and other Italian exotica of the two and four-wheeled variety under the theme of Cool Italia.

As well as a host of classic Italian car marques, including Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat and Lancia and Maserati, there were motorbikes and scooters from MV Augusta, Ducatti, Moto Guzzi, Lambretta and Vespa.

Joining the Italian marques were other outstanding exhibits from last year’s festival and interesting classics, including Minis, Mercedes-Benz, MGs, Triumphs, Jaguars and some home-grown talent in the shape of a little Lotus Elan.

As an additional attraction the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride also called in as part of their Cromer to Norwich motorcycle run to raise awareness, and help fund a cure, for prostate cancer.

Peter Fitzjohn, who started the festival last year, said about 85 cars were on show as well as a host of motorcycles with people staying later into the afternoon this year.

While Mr Fitzjohn organises the cars on display, the event is marshalled by Reepham Raptors Motorcycle Club and this year raised around £500, through voluntary donations, for the National Association of Blood Bikes.

“I have had quite a few emails from people saying how good it was, how much they enjoyed the event and could we do it again next year,” he said.

And the good news for motoring enthusiasts is that he is already thinking about a theme for next year’s event.
