Toploader shine at sell-out music festival

Chart-topping rock band Toploader delighted revellers at the 2016 Reepham Summer Music Festival, as the much-loved event sold out for a fourth year running.

Almost 2,000 festivalgoers congregated at Rookery Meadow on Saturday 13 August, where the Dancing In The Moonlight hitmakers topped an eclectic bill.

“Sold out” signs were displayed just three hours after the festival opened and the sun shone as acts including Walkway, Morganway, Dire Streets, Jeremiah Ferrari and Chasin’ Vegas entertained the crowd. Over on the church stage, the Blythe String Quartet topped the bill.

On Sunday, the festival moved to Whitwell Station, the ferstival’s main sponsor, for another afternoon of music. Acts including Differential, Hayley Moyses’ Britgrass Three and Buster James played in the Music Marquee, and families were able to enjoy a ride on a steam train.

“It was a wonderful weekend and great to see Reepham come alive with music and fun,” said festival director Steve Jenkins. “It’s great to know we are bringing so many visitors to our lovely town, and that we’re raising lots of money for charity.

“We were particular excited to have some great feedback from Toploader this year. They told us that the Reepham Festival is one of the nicest gigs they’ve played and that they loved the chilled-out, friendly vibe of the event. Coming from a band who’ve performed at so many top venues and festivals, that means a lot.”

The winner of the Squier Stratocaster that was raffled for charity at the festival was Jill Marshall-Somerville.

Donated by Reepham Life, the electric guitar was signed by members of Toploader with the proceeds going to their nominated charity, the Great Ormond Street Hospital.
