NDR sign to be changed

Visitors to Reepham will soon get directions to the town from the new Norwich Northern Distributor Road (NDR).

At present, the roundabout at the junction of the NDR and Reepham Road (C261) is signed “Local traffic” – without any mention of Reepham.

However, following a number of comments from residents, Reepham Division county councillor Greg Peck has now been assured that the access road will soon be signed “Reepham”.

Earlier, he reported to Reepham Town Council that the wording “Unsuitable for HGVs” would be added to the sign, owing to concerns that non-local heavy goods vehicles could be directed into Reepham via the narrow S-bends on the approach to the town centre on Norwich Road.

However, he has since been informed by the NDR project manager that the HGV warning will not be applied as Reepham is already signed from the Boundary Road junction in Norwich, and there are no signs along Reepham Road suggesting this route is unsuitable for HGVs.

So for continuity, Norfolk County Council has decided to replace the “Local traffic” sign at the NDR roundabout on Reepham Road with the “Reepham” wording only.

The County Council has a programme to replace a number of signs on the NDR and is currently working through these, so it could be some weeks before the Reepham sign is in place.
