A community market garden is looking for a permanent home after five years based at Eves Hill Farm in Booton, near Reepham.

A spokesperson for Eves Hill Veg Co said: “We are grateful to the Buxton family for giving us the chance and support to get going.

“Over these five years we have built our reputation, connected with a huge and wonderful community, and developed our market gardening, growing, distributing and training social-enterprise model.”

In 2020, the not-for-profit enterprise reported vegetable sales four times of those in its first year, while almost 100 people have now been put through formal training programmes.

Eves Hill Veg Co is currently looking for a minimum of two acres of land in or near Aylsham, where it already has a sister site at Bushey Place, or Reepham, with access to electricity and water, ideally with a shed or barn and facilities for a classroom.

The enterprise said it may have to rent a suitable site, although buying would be preferable, which could be achieved through crowdfunding and/or grant match-funding, to provide long-term security.

Eves Hill Veg Co is also seeking people with experience of running a crowdfunding campaign, who know how to put together ambitious funding plans, have experience of community land trusts (where the community buy shares and own the land), have contacts with local councils or who just want to help in any way.

It would also like to get in contact with private landowners or trusts that are interested in sharing, donating or gifting land to develop an environmental legacy within the local community.

The enterprise is also seeking support to become a charity to maintain its ethos of being run by the workers.
