Classic car festival cancelled again

The organisers of the Reepham Classic Car and Bike Festival have decided not to proceed with the event planned for September.

This follows recent government announcements regarding Covid-19 requirements for holding public events in enclosed spaces, and significant medical concerns that the lifting of restrictions would result in the spread of the virus.
Hugh Ivins, a member of the organising committee, said the safety of the entrants, comprising some 150 classic cars and motorbikes and several thousand members of the public in the Market Place, was uppermost when coming to this decision.
This popular annual event was instigated by local resident Peter Fitzjohn, in 2014, who passed away in 2020.
Last year’s event was also cancelled due to the pandemic.
“The organising team are keen to repeat the success of earlier shows and in September 2022 have decided to present a Peter Fitzjohn trophy in his memory for best car in show,” said Mr Ivins. “We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year.”
