Increase in town council precept

Reepham Town Council has agreed to increase the precept for the 2022/23 financial year.

The council’s budget for the next financial year will increase to £82,825, up from £79,485 in the current year, a rise of 4.2%.

It will mean a rise of £3.32 a year for a Band D property.

This represents the first increase in the precept for many years as the town council has had sufficient reserves.

However, costs are rising and major work to repair the churchyard wall is upcoming.

The local council precept is the proportion of council tax allocated to parish and town councils.

It is used to pay for local services such as street lighting, public toilets, cemeteries, playing fields and open spaces.
