Another covert vehicle speed survey has reinforced police opinion that speeding is not a major issue on the roads leading in and out of Reepham.

Addressing the January meeting of Reepham Town Council, PC Colin Bailey presented figures of a survey conducted earlier in the month on Norwich Road, opposite the junction with The Moor, which revealed very few vehicles travelling over the 30 mph limit.
Of the 7,729 vehicles monitored over a 4½-day period, 237 (3.1%) were travelling at speeds of 30–35 mph and 32 (0.4%) were travelling at more than 35 mph.
“A lot of speeding is perception,” PC Bailey told the meeting. “People are convinced that there is a speed issue everywhere. There is not a speeding problem in Reepham.”
The town council also discussed other traffic issues in Reepham. Ideas put forward included barriers around the churchyard wall, a one-way system, banning HGVs and other large vehicles from the town centre, the installation of CCTV and more road signs.
