After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and having undergone surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy Nina Atkinson (pictured) received help and support from the Norfolk-based cancer charity.
 
From her experience, and that of her patients and their families that she has cared for over the years as a district nurse in north Norfolk, she recognises how important Big C is for the population of the county.
 
“Big C truly made a positive difference to how I coped with my cancer diagnosis and treatment,” she said.
 
“Fortunately, I am now fully recovered and remain cancer free, allowing me to do what I truly love – running.”
 
Running the London Marathon is a dream Ms Atkinson has had for many years but she has never been successful through the ballot.
 
“Big C giving me the opportunity to run the London Marathon will not only fulfil a lifelong dream but will also enable me to raise money for a truly amazing charity,” she said.
 
“I get to prove to myself that, with hard work and determination, I can still achieve big ambitions after my cancer diagnosis and maybe even help and give inspiration to someone else.”
 
To raise funds for Big C, a cake tombola and raffle will be held on 16 July at the at the Bircham Centre, Market Place, Reepham, from 8.30 am – 12 noon.
