Support Reepham’s iconic church buildings

The Norfolk Churches Trust will be holding its annual sponsored bike ride/walk/drive on Saturday 10 September to raise money for the repair and preservation of Norfolk’s beautiful church buildings.

The idea is to visit between 9 am and 5 pm as many churches by bicycle or on foot, by car, on horseback – even by boat – and obtain sponsorship for the number of churches visited.

This is also an opportunity to make a straightforward donation. The money raised is divided between the trust, which makes grants to help the maintenance and restoration of church buildings throughout Norfolk, and a church of your choice.

The uniquely conjoined St Mary’s and St Michael’s churches in Reepham were built in the 14th and 15th centuries. They form the focal point of the Reepham conservation area and attract many visitors to the town.

However, their upkeep costs thousands of pounds a year, and it is hoped that as many people as possible will take part in the event this year and nominate St Mary’s/St Michael’s as the church of their choice.

Full details of the event and how to take part are on the Norfolk Churches Trust website; sponsor/donation forms are also available in St Mary’s porch.

This event is billed as a fun day out for all, so top up your tyres, brush off your boots, wipe clear your windscreen, set up your stirrups, bail out your bilge, get yourself sponsored or make a donation, and help to keep Norfolk’s iconic church buildings standing for another 600 years.
