Machinery arrives to refurbish high school cricket square

Reepham High School & College (RHSC) is looking forward to their first home cricket match in five years.

Its bid to refurbish its cricket square has been given a boost with the arrival at the school of a 1.5-tonne motorised roller and cricket square mower, which was bought with £10,000 awarded to the school by Sport England.

Kieron Tuck, development manager for the Norfolk Cricket Board, was instrumental in securing the funding, giving expert advice on how best to improve the cricket square and what machinery would be needed to maintain it in the future.

Joe Hollis, youth coach and grounds manager for Reepham & Salle Cricket Club (RSCC), said: “The cricket square will mean the school can play home matches during the 2014 season.”

It is also hoped the cricket club will make use of the facilities for youth training and matches.

RHSC has a proud tradition of producing talented cricketers including Norfolk county players and is delighted to be working with the wider community through its links with RSCC.

The club is English Cricket Board (ECB) Club Mark accredited, which means it promotes local cricket and provides youth training in a safe, well managed and fun environment.
