Three listed buildings in Reepham’s town centre conservation area are to be converted into new homes after Broadland District Council granted permission for offices in the Market Place to be turned into six residences.

Despite concerns about the lack of parking for any of the proposed dwellings, members of the council’s planning committee approved an application for the conversion of existing offices in Bank House, Carlton House and Melton House.

A child was taken to hospital for checks after being hit by a car in Reepham High School’s car park.

Police were called by the ambulance service to the school at 3.40 pm on Thursday following the collision.

It is understood that the child was hit by a wing mirror.

The child’s injuries are not believed to be serious.

A group of locals are taking matters into their own hands to spruce up a market town they say has been “neglected”.

The Big Reepham Clean Up, a newly formed volunteer group, hopes to make the town “look inviting” through a series of litter-picks, weeding and various other public space restorations.

Cherry Lane has taken over ownership of Bawdeswell Garden Centre, which opened in 1983.

The centre will continue to stock an extensive plant and garden range alongside its restaurant, pet shop and homeware department.

It becomes the 22nd garden centre in the Cherry Lane portfolio but will continue to trade under the Bawdeswell name.

According to eyewitnesses, they seemed to be searching for an individual and were mostly focusing on the Church Street area.

Despite completing a thorough search, no suspects or weapons were found.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting CAD 587 of 23 June.
