At the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 13 May, Cllr Hetty Selwyn was re-elected chairman for 2026–27 and Cllr Nigel Fielding was elected vice-chairman, subject to his acceptance. Councillors were also appointed to the Personnel Committee, Allotments Working Group and internal financial checking role.

County Councillor Dave Thomas was in attendance and was congratulated on his recent election win. Both he and District Councillor Stuart Beadle gave brief verbal reports.

The town council considered several local matters, including planning applications, highways concerns, allotments, play areas and community facilities.

A replacement grit bin for The Moor/Orchard Lane area will be funded from Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) money, and the clerk will seek a highways meeting to discuss Orchard Lane, Ollands Road and other local traffic concerns.

The new town sign has now been installed in the Market Place and has received positive feedback. Plans are also progressing for a farming and harvest-themed event in the Market Place on Sunday 13 September.

Events for Biodiversity Day on Saturday 23 May were discussed, including an event at the Bircham Centre and a poster competition.

The town council agreed the proposed design and location for the skatepark at Stimpson’s Piece, which will be on the old skatepark site. It was also agreed that no additional streetlights are needed for the new housing development on Broomhill Lane.

There are currently four vacancies on the town council. Anyone interested should contact the clerk for further information and an informal chat.

The next Reepham Town Council meeting is on Wednesday 10 June at 7.30 pm at Stimpson’s Piece Pavilion, Bartle Court, Reepham, with the Stimpson’s Piece Trustee meeting straight after at 8.30 pm. If you want to know more or get involved, just contact the clerk or check the council website.

The Town Hall and Stimpson’s Piece Community Hall & Pavilion are available to hire. Please contact the town clerk 01603 873355 or email for availability and prices.

At the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 8 April, it was noted that a number of events will be taking place around Biodiversity Day on Friday 22 May. Further information can be found in Reepham Town News. The town council is planning to map biodiversity within the town and hopes the high school can get involved to assist with this.

County Councillor Greg Peck has announced that he is retiring from his position and will not be standing in the county council elections on 7 May. Thanks were passed to him for all he has done for Reepham over the years, including the recent increase in parking allowance in the Market Place to two hours.

Grants were awarded to the Reepham Classic Car Festival for £300 and to Whitwell Common Trust for £171.75.

The town sign is currently being renovated. The Ewing family has offered to donate 50% of the cost of the renovation, to commemorate Ken Ewing’s late sister, Diane Turner, who, as chair of Reepham WI, was instrumental in the original sign being erected. Thanks were passed to the Ewing family and Diane’s son, Craig Turner, for this generous gesture.

Although it is business as usual for the town council, owing to the upcoming county council elections in May there will be no new spending or major decisions taken by either the district council or county council in the next few weeks.

New lights have been installed at the Stimpson’s Piece car park, at the Bartle Court end, and will be installed in coming weeks in the Kerdiston Road car park.

Various highways issues were identified and will be reported. Highways issues (potholes, etc.) can be reported online at: https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/highwaysproblem

The county council has asked the town council if it would like to provide street lighting on the new housing development on Broomhill Lane. This will be discussed at the next town council meeting.

There are currently four vacancies on the town council. Anyone interested should contact the clerk for further information and an informal chat.

The next Reepham Town Council meeting is on Wednesday 13 May at 7.30 pm at Stimpson’s Piece Pavilion, Bartle Court, Reepham, with the Stimpson’s Piece Trustee meeting straight after at 8.30 pm.

Representatives from Synergy Multi-Academy Trust were in attendance at the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 11 February. The application for approval of reserved matters following outline approval for a new sports hall at Reepham High School & College has been submitted, and they stressed the importance of community engagement for what will be a community facility. They are going to advertise what is being proposed and how people can help.

A quote was accepted to install lighting into the main car park at Stimpson’s Piece.

The town sign has been removed from the pound, outside the churchyard entrance, and is being renovated.

It was agreed to appoint Garden Guardian to continue with the grass cutting contract.

Skips were recently delivered to the Stony Lane and Fiddlers Field allotment sites for tenants to clear any rubbish from their plots.

Various highways issues were identified and will be reported. Highways issues (potholes, etc.) can be reported online HERE.

The town council would like to thank John Tym, who has worked tirelessly to ensure that the Wednesday Lunch Club can continue following Whitwell Hall entering administration. Whitwell & Reepham Station are also thanked, both for hosting the lunch club jointly with the Kings Arms and for allowing their minibus to be used.

The council is engaging with the Quietway project in Reepham. There is a meeting at the Bircham Centre on Thursday 19 March, where further information will be provided.

Two anonymous letters have been sent to the town council in the past month. Both were querying things outside the council’s remit. Residents are welcome to contact the town council with queries, but must provide contact information, so they can be signposted to the correct bodies to help.

The council is looking into highlighting the lack of a pedestrian crossing on Station Road, despite it being on the original plans for the care village and Co-Op. A “day of action” is being planned to coincide with Biodiversity Day on Friday 22 May.

There are currently four vacancies on the town council. Anyone interested should contact the clerk for further information and an informal chat.

The next Reepham Town Council meeting is on Wednesday 11 March at 7.30 pm, with the Stimpson’s Piece Trustee meeting straight after at 8.30 pm. If you want to know more or get involved, just contact the clerk or check the council website.

At the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 10 December, Joe Easton from Reepham High School gave a presentation about the new sports hall project, which is intended to be a community asset, not just a school facility. It could include a sports hall, a dance/yoga studio, changing facilities and a gym for public use. It is hoped that the community will support this project.

The council budget and precept for 2026–27 were approved; the precept will increase by 4% to £96,700.

The Christmas in Reepham event was a huge success. Thanks were given to Lynette and Mark Armitage from the King’s Arms, who took on organising the event, and to all the people who helped them.

Thanks were also given to Reepham & District Rotary Club, who erected the large Christmas tree, and the volunteers who helped DJB Electrical Services to decorate and hang the small trees around the town centre. A big thank you, too, to Judy Holland, who sourced all the trees from Salle Farms.

Plans are already underway to make the event even bigger for next year. Volunteers will be needed, so please contact Lynette if you feel you can help.

Cllr Sarah Morgan is looking into grant funding for a project to protect and enhance biodiversity in Reepham. If this is something which could be of interest, please contact the clerk, who can put you in contact.

The town council were saddened to hear of the death of Trevor Bevan. He was a town councillor for 10 years and chairman for five of these. He was also very active in the community, including as standard bearer for the Royal British Legion, and a previous trustee of the Bircham Centre. He will be hugely missed by the community as a whole, and condolences are passed to his family.

With the disappointing news that Whitwell Hall Country Centre has entered into administration, the town council is looking into ways that members of the community who used the services it provided can continue to be supported. It is hoped that the luncheon club can continue, and the council will investigate the possibility of obtaining a minibus.

The town sign is in a poor state of repair and needs renovation. If there are any local craftspeople with the skillset to tackle this, please contact the clerk, who can provide specification for a quote.

At the Stimpson’s Piece Charity trustee meeting, a quote was accepted for the replacement of the fence around the former nursery school area. The new play equipment is open and hopefully will be well used in the upcoming school holidays. A pre-planning application will be submitted soon for the new skatepark.

The next Reepham Town Council meeting is on Wednesday 14 January at 7.30 pm, with the Stimpson’s Piece Trustee meeting straight after at 8.30 pm. If you want to know more or get involved, just contact the clerk or check the council website.

Highways issues (potholes, etc.) can be reported online HERE.

At the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 12 November, it was reported that Sam James has resigned as a councillor. Thanks were given to her for the hard work and energy she has put into the council and Stimpson’s Piece charity. Louisa Dreisin was co-opted onto the council.

A draft budget was circulated and will be approved, along with the precept, at the December town council meeting. A quote was accepted to resurface the entranceway to Stimpson’s Piece car park.

Lynette and Mark Armitage from the King’s Arms have generously taken on the organisation of the Christmas in Reepham event, to be held on Saturday 6 December. A grant application was received to cover first aid staffing and a road closure; the town council has agreed to pay for some new lights for the main Christmas tree. It was also agreed to donate money to the Young Farmers to decorate some tractors for a competition.

It was noted that the Broomhill Lane planning application for a housing development of 141 houses was approved by Broadland District Council’s Planning Committee. It was disappointing that more notice was not given for this meeting, as there are only two councillors remaining on the town council from when the application was last discussed.

The YMCA Youth Outreach survey was received, but without enough notice for councillors to fully review it. It will be discussed at the town council meeting in January.

There are a number of vacant allotments on all three sites in the town. If you are interested in taking on a plot, please contact the clerk for further information.

Reepham Robins are looking to set up a new Friends of Stimpson’s Piece Group and will contact all regular groups who use the hall. The possibility of converting one of the changing rooms to publicly accessible toilets was discussed and will be explored further. Quotes will be obtained to replace the fence around the back of the hall and to clear vegetation from the floodlight.

The skatepark consultation report has been sent but was only received by trustees on the day of the meeting. Broadland District Council’s Planning Department will be contacted to see if planning permission will be required.

Reepham Tennis Club has asked for the Kerdiston Road car park to be lit. The pros and cons of this were discussed, along with the need for the club to pay for the electricity. It will investigate and then contact the trustees of Stimpson’s Piece.

There are currently four vacancies on Reepham Town Council. Anyone interested should contact the town clerk for further information and an informal chat.

At the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 8 October, it was revealed that work is underway on a new Community Emergency Plan, and the council is looking for local volunteers who might have useful skills to help out.

If you would like more information or would like to be involved, please contact the town clerk on 01603 873355 or email for availability and prices.

Most allotment rents are in, but there are still some empty plots at Fiddlers Field, Stony Lane and Norwich Road. If you fancy growing your own, get in touch with the clerk.

The Christmas lights are due to go up on Saturday 29 November, and while the future of the Festival of Light/Christmas in Reepham event is a bit uncertain, there is hope that a new group will take it on.

The paper bank in the Station Road car park is being removed by the contractor and will not be replaced.

At the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 10 September, Nigel Fielding was co-opted as a town councillor; he has some experience as a parish councillor elsewhere. District Councillor Stuart Beadle was also in attendance and gave a verbal report.

The town council agreed to obtain quotes for a grant bid writer to assist in grant funding for the replacement skatepark at Stimpson’s Piece.

Allotment rents for October 2026 were reviewed and it was agreed to keep the rents at the current level of £75 for a full-size plot and £37.50 for a half-sized plot.

The defibrillator in the Market Place is reaching the end of its life and a new location is needed for its replacement, which the town council agreed to fund. The King’s Arms has generously agreed to house it on the external wall of the pub, close to Pudding Pie Alley. A second unit will also be purchased and will be located on the wall of the fire station in School Road.

At the Stimpson’s Piece Trustee meeting, it was announced that a consultation event for the new skatepark will be held at Stimpson’s Piece Pavilion on the afternoon/evening of Thursday 23 October. Local residents are invited to attend to give their views.

Repair work has been carried out on the large multi-play equipment and toddler swings at Stimpson’s Piece; the gutters on the hall have also been cleared. A gardener will soon carry out work to the exterior of the hall to weed and mow overgrown areas.

Meanwhile, more play equipment is due to be installed in early November, consisting of a callisthenics gym and a Rotanet.

The next Reepham Town Council and Stimpson’s Piece trustee meetings will be held on Wednesday 8 October from 7.30 pm at Stimpson’s Piece Pavilion, Bartle Court, Reepham.

The Town Hall and Stimpson’s Piece Community Hall & Pavilion are available to hire. Please contact the town clerk on 01603 873355 or email for availability and prices.

At the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 9 July, Catherine Watling, communities partnership manager for YMCA Norfolk, gave a presentation, advising the services it can offer.

Following discussion, it was agreed that YMCA Norfolk will be commissioned to conduct an outreach service to establish what youth services are wanted in Reepham.

County Councillor Greg Peck and District Councillor Stuart Beadle were in attendance and gave verbal reports; devolution and local government reorganisation were discussed. Cllr Peck told the town council about some grant funds available.

Following a tree inspection, the required work to make the council’s trees safe are ongoing. A quote was also agreed to remove two large Leylandii trees in the courtyard garden at the town hall.

Following a tender process, it was agreed to appoint a design agency and construction company to be the council’s preferred contractor for a new skatepark at Stimpson’s Piece: Betongpark will carry out consultation, assist with fundraising and any planning, and conduct the construction phases.

A quote was agreed for a Rotanet for the recreation ground, which will be installed in the autumn at the same time as the callisthenics gym.

A local chid has asked for a running track at Stimpson’s Piece; the clerk is contacting him to ascertain what is required. Thanks were also passed to the child and his friends, as they have been litter picking recently at the recreation ground.

A new contract for the tennis club was discussed, and a draft contract will be prepared.

The Friends of Stimpson’s Piece group has done a fantastic job, clearing the old nursery garden at the community hall. They have identified some additional work that needs doing and will pass details to the clerk to arrange for the work to be done, hopefully with the Community Payback team.

The Town Hall and Stimpson’s Piece Community Hall & Pavilion are available to hire. Please contact the town clerk on 01603 873355 or email for availability and prices.

At the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 11 June, County Councillor Greg Peck and District Councillor Stuart Beadle were in attendance and gave verbal reports; devolution and local government reorganisation were discussed.

The accounts for 2024/25 were approved and will be sent to the external auditor.

Permission was given for the King’s Arms to hold a music event on half of the Market Place as part of the Reepham Festival.

The legal order to increase the parking allowance in the Market Place is going ahead but will take time.

The tree survey has been carried out, and the required work identified will take place at the beginning of July.

Three tenders have been received for the replacement skatepark at Stimpson’s Piece. They will be assessed on a standard criteria and information forwarded to councillors to allow for a decision to be made at the July town council meeting.

The need for youth provision in the town was discussed, and the YMCA will attend the meeting in July to show what services it can offer. Another provider, Norwich Youth for Christ, has also offered its services. The town clerk will liaise with the church to see if it has capacity to host them.

A callisthenics gym quote was approved for installation at Stimpson’s Piece. This will be funded entirely from Section 106 and Community Infrastructure Levy funding from the district council. Further quotes will be obtained for a Rotanet (“witches hat”) climbing frame.

At the Annual Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 14 May, Hetty Selwyn was re-elected as chair and Matthew Steel as vice chair. Alice Riddett resigned as a councillor and thanks were passed for her service.

There are two people interested in becoming town councillors. Their co-option will be considered at the June meeting, when hopefully both can attend.

Committee and working group members were agreed for the year ahead.

Reports from PC Denis Evans and County Councillor Greg Peck, who were unable to attend, were distributed prior to the meeting. District Councillor Stuart Beadle was in attendance and gave a brief verbal report.

Grants were approved for the Reepham Food Festival (£450) and Reepham Classic Car Festival (£150).

Allotments were discussed at length. At the Fiddler’s Field site, there have been several issues regarding the keeping of chickens and cockerels. All allotment holders will be reminded of the rules and regulations on keeping chickens. Due to continued issues, one allotment holder will be written to, advising that they must rehome their chickens.

The provision of further play equipment for the Overton Way play area was discussed. A leaflet drop for residents will be carried out, asking what equipment, if any, they would prefer.

Kirby Leonard of Moor House has kindly arranged for the fallen branches to be cleared from the Whitwell Road cemetery. A tree survey has been carried out, and the report will be available soon.

Disappointment was expressed that the solar farm off Nowhere Lane was approved at Broadland District Council’s Planning Committee meeting. An application for the connection route to the Salle substation will be forthcoming.

The clerk is due to meet with the YMCA with a view to establish a youth engagement service in the town.

Broadland and South Norfolk District Councils are developing a design code for both districts, with the aim of strengthening the quality of new residential development across the area. They are seeking feedback, which can be given HERE.

Residents are reminded that any highways or public right of way issues can be reported HERE.

Quotes were discussed for trampolines for the Stimpson’s Piece recreation ground play area, but they are expensive at £5,000–6,000 for small (1m x 1m) trampolines. The purchase of gym equipment will be explored, with quotes brought to the next meeting.

It was agreed to commission a topographical survey for Stimpson’s Piece at a cost of £400.

The Town Hall and Stimpson’s Piece Pavilion are available to hire. Please contact the town clerk on 01603 873355 or email for availability and prices.

The next Reepham Town Council and Stimpson’s Piece trustee meetings will take place on Wednesday 11 June from 7.30 pm at Stimpson’s Piece Pavilion, Bartle Court, Reepham.
